About us
Your Genome is the place to find out everything you want to know about DNA, genes and genomes. From the basic biology to the challenging ethical issues, learn with our free interactive resources.
You’ll be able to explore what a genome is and how we sequence the DNA from an organism. You’ll also be able to discover different career paths in genomics as well as what genetics can tell us about an individual and why this can throw up some tricky ethical questions.
Your Genome is curated and produced by staff at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. As a non-profit research institution, and one of the world's most advanced genomics laboratories, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of knowledge forward and sharing this new understanding with everyone. We are funded by the Wellcome Trust and based on the Wellcome Genome Campus in Cambridgeshire, UK.
Our mission is to enable everyone to explore genomic science and its impact on research, health and society. We form collaborations and work with partners across the globe to ensure our impact and reach is as wide as possible.
Your Genome benefits from the scientific knowledge and expertise of researchers and other staff from the Sanger Institute and the wider Campus, and is informed and inspired by the work that happens here.
We are passionate about making high-quality and trusted genomics content and education resources freely available and accessible for all. As well as producing Your Genome, we also offers a range of in-person and online opportunities for young people, educators and adults, to learn about genomics and the wide-range of career opportunities it provides.
