Sequencing Library Construction

Mike first trained in biochemistry and worked for a biotechnology company researching natural food flavours. Later, Mike studied microbiology and did postdoctoral research, where he learnt skills in DNA manipulation and DNA cloning - essential preparation for his current job at the Sanger Institute. Until 2007, Mike coordinated the Pathogen Subcloning team at the Sanger Institute, producing and managing the clone libraries for pathogen sequencing projects. He now heads up the sequencing library construction team - covering the established processes of subcloning and finishing - and is involved in the preparation of libraries for new sequencing technologies at the Sanger Institute.
