How the human genome was sequenced
This animation tells the story of the Human Genome Project that sequenced the first human genome and outlines the processes, techniques and principles involved in the project.
The Human Genome Project, which began in 1990, was the largest biological experiment of its time. Researchers worked together around the globe, including here at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, to read and record all of the DNA letters in the human genome.
